Ok, yeah if it doesn't include them the passport, credit card and US cash for emergencies. Assuming those are a given then my camera, my flip flops (walk unprotected on hotel floors? no thanks! lol) and my prescription sunglasses! Everything else can be bought. (Think I can buy the flip flops? Maybe, but...I wear a 41/ 9 1/2US - ever try buying flip flops for big feet in SE Asia? My flip flops could eat their flip flops for lunch...LOL)
That is easy because these three things are the first ones which I prepare to pack it in my bag:
- My digital camera: to document the whole trip. I can not bought a camera at my destination because I start documenting already while leaving the house. In the car, at the airport, in the plane and so one ... Surprisingly I have never lost my camera up to now.
- Flip Flops: I could not image living without them. When I can put on my flip flops I know that the holidays can start. My flip flops bring along a certain atmosphere
- Sun blocker for very sensitive skin and for people who are a bit allergic to sun.
I noticed almost everyone included a Camera to take along on their trip, and was reminded of Daniel Kahneman's lecture from TED. He talks about how humans construct memories, and speculates that most of us wouldn't enjoy our trips as much if we weren't able to take photos. But is that really enjoying the trip, or just the memories?
As for me: Ditto on these exact three: I couldn't go anywhere without my iPod, I want my camera to capture the aforementioned memories, and I'm blind without my shades. I know it's been said before, but can I add anything else?
Camera - no explanation necessary
iPod - not for the music but for the translation app and notes (where you are staying for example)
comfy walking shoes - I can't wear flip-flops but have a pair of Croc walking shoes with good support
since my glasses darken to sunglasses I don't have to worry about those
For me i would take my:
and my Camera..
This three for me should go together.
-Cellphone for communication in case of emergency..
-ATM card for my food, fare, and other expenditures
-and Camera to capture special moments..
