At this moment in time there is more media hype than facts. However the true risk will soon emerge. A point to note though is that mathematicians have predicted a worldwide spread for the virus. So if the doom mongers turn out to be right, the best option would be to travel to somewhere with excellent healthcare and stocks of anti virals.
The headlines are all very scary, but I read somewhere that 35,000 people die in a normal flu season...so this really isn't that big of a deal in comparison. Which is not to downplay the impact on folks who are more susceptible to the illness -- the young, the old, people with compromised immune systems or no access to medical care, etc. But as a traveler I think I'll just be taking extra precautions like washing my hands, carrying hand sanitizer, taking my vitamin C, etc.![]()
Definitely it is effecting my travel plans. Now I am more cautious in selecting the touring destination that certainly wouldn’t be any in Mexico. .
