Default What else to do in GA

My sister has this idea of going down while winter here and go to the largest aquarium and Lady and sons restaurant. Any been to either? Is it worth it to take a few days off and come and see these places. How close are these places to each other. What else to do in GA. Just another idea we are throwing around to see what sticks.

The aquarium is in Atlanta, near the Coke Museum, Centennial Park, and the CNN Center. They say it's the largest but it didn't seem all that grand to us. I enjoyed the aquarium in Tennessee more, to be honest. Lady & Sons restaurant is in Savannah which is a good 4-5 hour drive from Atlanta. You have to make reservations or you wait in a line several hours long outside. It's southern food, some in buffet style so if you don't like your vegetables cooked for several hours, I wouldn't recommend it. The Savannah waterfront area is nice along with the old architecture.

You can visit the museum at Carter Center or the monument of Martin Luther King if you like culture. Apart from that, there are some nice parks and districts with a lot of bars and restaurants in Atlanta. You can travel to Alpharetta or Augusta, as well.. There you can enjoy the countryfeeling and the nature of the beautiful state Geogia.

I would love to see that MLK monument. Thanks for the link.

The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is on Jekyll Island. The center has a web site you can check out www.georgiaseaturtlecenter.org. Tours are less than $10. The GSTC is the only one of its kind in the south. It has an educational center and a hospital, where the vet and staff do wonderful things to rehabilitate sick and injured sea turtles for ultimate release back into the ocean. The area has lovely hotel accommodations as well.

The Georgia Aquarium is definitely worth a visit. I'd skip Lady in Sons...far better places to eat in Savannah...
