Default Using the Web for Hotel Research

How do you use the Web to find and research hotels? Do you check out deals on Twitter, use Google Earth to scope out a hotel's neighborhood, or rely on TripAdvisor for user reviews and photos? Let us know here!

Trip Advisor is a good site to see how a hotel ranks. Comments work too.
For Las Vegas, there are a variety of discount hotel websites that have low rates.

Twitter started out good, but lately doesn't seem to be so good for promotional rates.

The problem with all sites that have you rate hotels, airlines, etc., is that most people post when they have something negative to say. When they have had a good experience, they don't bother. I take all of those ratings with a degree of scepticism.
