Default Is anyone familiar with "Your Man Tours" trip to Hawaii

"Your Man Tours" advertises its 15-day trips to Hawaii frequently on the radio. About $1,800 from Michigan includes air transportation to Hawaii and between islands, hotels and tours.

It sounds like a good deal, but it is necessary to book directly with Your Man Tours. That means I probably can't get a TA's opinion.

Anyone out there book with YMT?????

Your Man Tours is a legitimate tour company. Just make sure you are aware that many of their accomodations tend to be on the low end of the range of places to stay. Hotels are clean and OK but certainly not luxury in any way. If that's not a problem for you, OMT may be the tour you are looking for. At times, though, you can find nicer accomodations for about the same price by booking through a travel agent who is a Hawaii specialist. They will know which wholesalers to check to get you the best deal. Either way you go, you'll be in Paradise!

    Default Cruise or land trip?

Host, thanks for the information on YMT. We are just in the dreaming stage for a trip to Hawaii. It will probably be at least two to three years away.

We love cruising and only unpacking once. What is your opinion of a Hawaiian cruise as compared to a land trip? I'd like to see 3 or 4 islands at a reasonable price. I do realize a Hawaiin vacation won't be inexpensive, though.

A cruise ship is a great way to get an introduction to the islands! The American Hawaii Cruise Line is the best in my opinion as they don't have to touch foreign soil as others do. Their on island activities are excellent, food great and they have won awards for their Hawaiiana activities. The newest ship has had some problems but I think they will be worked out quickly and she will become a great ship. I have a feeling, though, that you will be planning your return trip to your favorite island on the plane home! <g>

Host, I understand that YMT does use the "lower end" hotels (I just got a brochure from them) but are they safe and clean for the most part? Or, will I find problems. I looked up the hotels on their own websites and they look OK. I guess I like the idea of paying one price and being done. I just don't want to be in a "horrible" hotel.
    Thanks for your help!!

I doubt that YMT would use horrible hotels, as long as you are not expecting luxury resorts you will probably be fine. Since I don't have a brochure in front of me it's a little hard to make definite comments. If you would like to give us a few names of the places, we can probably give you better advice.

Default Web link for YMT Hawaii tour

Here's a link to the proposed itinerary for YMT to Hawaii. I'm not sure why it is labeled "proposed."

    The company's website is www.ymtvacations.com/

I looked at the website in regards to the hotels: basically they are budget properties, clean, perhaps need a little paint or redecorating but nothing terribly wrong with them other than that. Locations are not where the luxury resorts are but then how much time do you plan on spending in your room? Do be careful of the beach at the Kauai Sands. It's nice to walk on, sit and dream, watch waves but is basically an "unswimmable" beach which translates to one that is dangerous--rocky with waves and currents you aren't going to want to get into. There are better beaches on the south and north shores, or try Lydgate Beach.

    Default What about Worry-Free Vacations?

There was a short article in Michigan Living, a AAA Magazine, about Worry-Free Vacations, formerly MLT Vacations. Below is a link to its Hawaii page. Host Sand n Sea, do you have any comments? Worry-Free Vacations doesn't seem as structured as YMT.

Thanks, host Sand n Sea for all your comments on this forum.

Kind of hard to compare. Your Man Tours basically uses budget hotels and there isn't as much of freedom of choice. Worry-Free is basically a wholesaler of travel, like many others (Apple, Pleasant, Blue Sky, Classic Hawaii, Happy tours, etc). They all do about the same thing--offer package deals usually including air/hotel/condo/ car although one can book individual parts also. The prices of wholesale packages normally will be better than what you can price individually by yourself. Since Worry-Free is basically out of the mid-west and eastern coast, I haven't heard too much about them. I'd suggest you price them and then someone like Plesant, Apple, Blue Sky, to compare.

I still do not have any plans to go to Hawaii in the near future, but I did run across comments on YMT on another message board.
