I am overwhelmed by the information on the internet. I am leaning towards Cozumel. What are the best all inclusive resorts in Cozumel? I am not limited to Cozumel--any other areas of Mexico that are safe will be considered. Thanks.

I prefer Cancún, is a party city that just won’t give up. Top that off with a pretty good beach and you have one of the Western Hemisphere’s biggest tourist draws, bringing in as many as 4 million visitors (mostly from the US) each year.
I can STRONGLY recommend Tulum, Mexico, about 2 hours southwest of Cancun.
It's two hours and a long way from Cancun.
Check it out!
Cozumel is more laid back than Cancun. Depends on what you want. Playa Del Carmen is wonderful, also.
We went to Cancun for our Anniversary last September and loved every minute of it. We went to the Royal Cancun. We told them when we booked that it was our anniversary, our room had the rose petal heart on the bed, cake and champagne waiting on check in. Pampered every minute of everyday. They bent over backwards to cater to your every whim. The only drawback is the Time Share people. We finally gave in and listened to their pitch, turned them down, took the free gifts and we were on our way. Food was awesome, all rooms overlook the ocean, it's an all inclusive so you don't have to carry cash. We did not leave the property but alot of people took the bus and went into town. Where every you choose, enjoy it.
Cozumel is very depressing. If you leave your hotel, the countryside is depressed and poor. Even town is somewhat depressing.
I found Cancun very touristy. It depends what sort of holiday you are after, if its culture and seeing the local side of Mexico then maybe Cozumel, for relaxing on a beach and getting a tan then Cancun!
Another option many don't consider is Isla Mujeres, just a short boat ride from Cancun and different than Cozumel. Also, just south of Cancun is an area on the rise known as the Mayan Riviera resting along that gorgeous turquoise Sea. There are many beautiful resorts and hotels at the riviera. It's an extremely popular destination with a very different vibe than Cancun. It's also closer to the Mayan ruins at Tulum, which are most definitely worth seeing!
