XMAS between NY and Washington

Hi everybody,
I will arrive in Washington Dulles Airport on December 24th with family and would like to go directly to NYC. What is the best solution in your opinion? Is there a direct connection by coach?

No direct connection by coach. You could fly or go to downtown DC and take a bus or train (depending upon if there are any running; transportation will slack off on the afternoon of the 24th because pretty much, by that time, anyone traveling for Christmas is already there).

You might do best to rent a car, but, if you are going directly to Manhattan, you would need to dump the car after you got there.

One has to ask why you are flying to DC if you want to go to NYC? You do know the driving time between Dulles and NYC is 4 1/2 to 5 hours.

Thanks. You are right but this is the flight we found at a reasonable price... the idea to leave the car in Manhattan is right since we will just need it for the transfer between Dulles and NYC.
