11 Ways to Prevent Identity Theft While Traveling
I have been the victim of identity theft, and to this day I don't know how it happened. All I know is it was like a part time job to try and clear it all up.
We first learned about it from a collection agency. Innocently we called them to find out the specifics, as we had no idea. They were so nasty, and intimidating. Soon after we received a few more notices.
It took a long time to clear it up. Filing of police reports and notices to the FTC. Extremely stressful.
Do all you can to protect yourself. Be careful what you post online. Be especially careful of joining GROUPS on various social media sites. There is a false sense of protection when you post in them, as you were "approved" as a member. The reality is -- you are now sharing your info -- maybe even travel info -- with a bunch of people you don't know.
