IndependentTraveler.com's sister site, CruiseCritic.com, offers a lot of information on Antarctica cruises. You may wish to check these links:

I hope these are useful.

Your best bet may be to try Cruise Critic's message boards then -- in particular, the Antarctica forum (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=475) or the eco-cruising forum (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=90). If you tell the folks there what you're looking for, they may be able to give you specific suggestions.

Good luck!

Hi All,

I went to Antarctica in 2001, and it was a real 1 lifetime experience! Anyway, that's how I felt about it: it is not thatthere is an hotel on Antarctica as a question in another post, we stayed on our cruise ship - ice breaker.

We went in february, "late summer" when the ice is melted the most and the ice-breaker can sail the deepest into Antarctica.

The most amazing experience was when the ice breaker "parked" next to an iceberg and we could touch the iceberg with our bare hands (ok, not bare, fully covered and make sure they your gear doesn't let water true, very very important, as I could feel my cold fingers mor or less half a year later...)

So prepare well before you go, but it is really worth it!
