Although I think the decline of the American dollar was terrible - don't get me wrong, it is - I think the Passport changes were the biggest deal this year within the USA.

Hmm, had to vote for the weak U.S. dollar. It wasn't too bad in Morocco since everything is cheap there, but we got totally clobbered by the British pound during our layovers at Heathrow. And my parents paid a TON for their trip to Paris.
Runner up: green travel, since I personally have become much more conscious of that than I used to be.
