I must say that traveling close to home is not something I ever think to do. I'm usually a "far away and exotic" kind of vacationer. But with the cost of travel (not to mention everyday life) getting so out of hand, I certainly think I'll be taking more trip to nearby destinations. Maybe the tough economic conditions will be a blessing in diguise at least in that regard, and motivate me to discover a few more of the gems that are in my area instead of always looking far afield.
