As different as each island is, most have one thing in common. They are poor countries who depend on tourism for 90% of there economy. Trinidad was a real exception. This country has been an important part of commerce for many years. They were a refueling port during W.W.II. Now there is a large middle class who have jobs and automobiles. There are actually shopping malls there.
If you go during the summer, don't miss Carnival. |

stay away from this hotel. my experience there was terrible. beach filthy, VERY load music pounding until 3 a.m., not at all a relaxing, quiet place to spend a vacation. waste of money. mgr. not accomodating and seemed to cater to locals and not to paying guests.

There is a new site opening up for those who want better accomodations when they travel. More of a house than a hotel, etc. You might want to check it out at GreatVacationHomes4u.com. I think they are opening up in February!
