Default Best Travel Gifts!

Travelers are my favorite friends to buy gifts for. It's fun to see all the cool new travel gadgets that come out each year. My pick? The UV Germ Finder, which you can use to spot (no pun intended) invisible germs in your hotel room -- check it out at the link below! What will they think of next?

What do you think are the best gifts for travelers? And what travel gifts are you wishing some genius would invent? (I'm thinking something -- anything -- that will make an airplane seat moderately comfortable. I have yet to discover such a product, other than alcoholic beverages.)

Can't beat a good pair of trekking boots. If you buy someone a stylish pair, their utility is five-fold. You can do some serious hiking (this is the most important thing). You can look decent in *most* social situations. If the boots have a good toe, you can fight off wild jaguars. A lot of people lose their mind while hiking the Appalachian Trail, so if one comes at you, you can fight him off. Finally, you can fight off crazy bearded hikers who have employed wild jaguars for attack purposes.

I have a pair of Merrill. Got 'em as a holidy gift, and I couldn't be happier.

Hee, good call on the comfortable airplane seat -- they are just too cramped (and I'm not a very tall person)!

Let's see. As a traveler, I'd love to receive a gift certificate that I could use toward travel or travel gear, or a book about where I'm going, or a cookbook with recipes from a place I've been! Every time I come home from a trip, I end up searching for recipes for some of the foods I liked best. I found a good recipe for Moroccan couscous last year, and this year I'm on the hunt for a yummy Belizean beans and rice recipe.

Obviously, the best gift of all would be an all-expenses-paid trip, but I'm not holding my breath for that one.

I think the best travel gift would be a multi-adaptor, it's always very frustrating not being able to use my electronics!
